HELP-Marking plan for market penetration

I'm working on a school project for a company and need to create a plan to increase sales for 2 of their items. I personally don't even believe these items are that great so I'm not sure how to work on this if I think it needs improvement. They specifically said "don't focus on improving the product, we just need to increase sales for now". I'm at loss. Any help is appreciated.

The more of a mismatch to the market, the higher the budget has to be. At zero dollars this project is the business equivalent to the old show Jackass.
You have no budget. Get with the top sales guys. Find out customer reactions, what customers value or respond to. Take a look at how this matches up with the site.
At zero you can't change the site -- no matter how inexpensive the change. (Well, let's get this straight. Plenty of morons would work for nothing. You make your own choice.) You might find out something to suggest copy changes or some nugget of information.
One big company found the sales staff was using less than twenty percent of the marketing materials provided. Now you can make any argument you want sales would increase if they used the materials -- right now it's all garbage.
You'll still get brownie points for exposing the waste and cutting.
